And Finland? The country is expected to benefit significantly from the investments, both in terms of energy and digital infrastructure and through new jobs. During the initial construction phase in 2027 and 2028, as many as 37,000 jobs are expected to be created in the country, generating an additional €3.6 billion in annual economic output for Finland. Thousands of local job opportunities are also expected to remain after construction is completed.
Google is also committing €31 million to communities in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos, and Vaala, spread over a four-year period. Some of the funding will go toward education, AI upskilling, and training for students. At the same time, Google plans to support local initiatives, including the installation of energy storage systems and heat pumps in schools and sports centers.
